Pet Portraits with Santa
Mark your calendars for Pet Portraits with Santa on December 10th & 11th. They are taking place at the Super 8 in the Minis Hall here in Kenora. Bring your pets and your children.
We are raising money for Rescue North. This is from their website www.rescuenorth.com
“Northwestern Ontario is currently in an animal welfare crisis due to a combination of unique circumstances, environmental and cultural issues. For most of our vast region, there is NO help available for animals found OUTSIDE of communities with Animal Control Services. The need was already overwhelming but with the arrival of winter and brutally cold temperatures, there has been a further increase in the number of animals in urgent need of food, shelter and medical care.
Donations are needed to fund a new shelter, as well as cover costs associated with veterinary care, fostering or the transfer of newly rescued animals to other facilities, in the interim.”
Your investment in your pet’s portrait will be such a big help for Rescue North. It’s only $30 for the portrait session and a 5×7 print. That’s more than a $75 value! And, of course you can order more prints to send out to family and friends, to hang in your home or the office and we do Christmas cards as well.
What a great opportunity for some adorable portraits!

It’s snowing!
Well it’s 1am and I just got in from shoveling some snow! Hopefully I’ve got a good head start on it for the morning…well at least the shovel is at the door and not buried in the garage somewhere, so I can dig my way to my car in the morning.
I’m so glad to have come back from Winnipeg yesterday before the snow came. Have to confess that it is quite pretty outside right now. It would be perfect for portraits at the Vernon Trails…that is when the sun comes back up.
Take it easy shoveling in the morning!
Thank You!
To all the brides, their moms & friends, and to all the vendors that participated in our 5th Annual Wedding Expo this past Sunday, thank you so much for making it such a success!
Congratulations to everyone that won gift certificates in our Cash Cube, what a blast! It was so much fun watching all of you catching as much money as you could. Thank you Brenton and Candice for running that for us.
And last, but not least, a huge Thank you to Brenton of Summer Bounce Entertainment – Interactive DJ Service. You did a great job of getting the Brides up on the dance floor and teaching them Cupid’s Dance! You ROCK!!!! For those of you interested in hiring them, their website is:

Only 5 days till Kenora’s 5th Annual Wedding Expo!
Things are really shaping up for our Wedding Expo! We have a number of new vendors at the Expo this year and lots repeat vendors too. There are a more than 12 businesses participating in the “Cash Cube”. It’s going to be so Awesome, I can hardly wait! I will have a list of participating vendors for you soon, so check back on our events page for the updates!
Wedding Expo Updates
Woohoo! The Wedding Expo is coming up quickly, if you haven’t registered make sure you do so you can get in on all the goodies!
We are having something special this year, perhaps you have heard of it. Brenton from Summer Bounce Entertainment is bringing their “Cash Cube”! What’s that you ask, well once you register for the expo and check in at the door, your name goes into the draw bin and once your name is pulled you get to choose, from a list, which vendor you would like to receive a gift certificate from. Then you go into the “Cash Cube” and while the money is blowing around you try to grab as much cash as you can within the time limit. The amount that you are able to grab is the amount you will get as a gift certificate from the business.
Here’s a couple of images for you to see:
3D Ultrasound
Well, I just got back from visiting with my friends in Winnipeg, last night. They are expecting their first baby, I’m so excited that I can hardly wait to meet the little fellow. While I was visiting they showed me the 3-D Ultrasound of their little boy. Wow, what a cutie! We call his dad “Mini Me” and this little guy is definitely a “Mini, Mini Me”! It’s amazing how much detail you can see with these fancy ultrasounds. OK, I’ll try to stay calm for the next month and a half till he’s born. Oh ya, I also got to feel him moving around in his mommy…wonder if those were little feet kicking or little hands?

Home again!
Well I spent the weekend in the very quiet city of Winnipeg with my sister. It was super hot and hopefully all of you reading this post had a chance to enjoy the weather and go for a swim in the lake! Didn’t get out to photograph anything on the weekend but did get some inspiration for my next wedding coming up in 2 weeks. I’m really excited about this next wedding, they are a super fun couple and I wish them all the best as they put the rest of their plans together. Before I leave you here is an image from a wedding I photographed in Beaty Park in Keewatin, Ontario
Family Portraits
It’s a beautiful Sunday afternoon for relaxing on the deck at the cabin and watching the loons frolicking on the lake.
Yesterday morning I had the privilege of photographing a family that had gathered for a special celebration. We went out to McLeod Park here in Kenora, Ontario to take in the beautiful backdrop of Lake of the Woods. The light was so beautiful with a bit of cloud cover which made for really soft light and rich colors.
People often think that you have to have a bright sunny day to photograph outdoors but the truth is that slightly overcast or hazy days are the best as the sun is filtered, diffusing it into really soft light which really makes the colors “POP”. I’ll post some images soon so you can see what I mean.
Hope everyone’s having a great weekend and soaking up the sunshine!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
It was mine & my sister’s birthday this week. So, Happy Birthday to my sister Arlene…it will never matter how old I get, you’ll always be older. My mom and sister went to M&E Strawberry Farm on Monday to pick up some fresh, incredibly delicious, juicy strawberries that we used on our cake. Mmmmmm! Sorry, it’s all gone now but you can drool over it!
