Well it was a beautiful fall morning and day, bright sunshine and fresh dew on the ground.  The trees are really starting to turn color.  It’s a great time for family portraits outdoors!  This morning I photographed a little newborn and her family outdoors in a beautiful field of color.  The drive to and from their home was so beautiful.  I love this time of year!

Newborn babies are so beautiful.  I find myself mesmerized by all the little movements and noises that they make.  Here are some images from my last newborn portrait session.

This past week, I attended a workshop on photographing newborns.  It was fantastic and I’m totally pumped about photographing my next newborn session.

Have you ever noticed how newborns curl up with their feet and hands tucked in?  I love this part of newborn life, especially the little movements they make.  Within the first 10 to 12 days, after birth, is the perfect time to have your new bundle of joy photographed as it really doesn’t last long.

Well, I just got back from visiting with my friends in Winnipeg, last night.  They are expecting their first baby, I’m so excited that I can hardly wait to meet the little fellow.  While I was visiting they showed me the 3-D Ultrasound of their little boy.  Wow, what a cutie!  We call his dad “Mini Me” and this little guy is definitely a “Mini, Mini Me”!  It’s amazing how much detail you can see with these fancy ultrasounds.  OK, I’ll try to stay calm for the next month and a half till he’s born.  Oh ya,  I also got to feel him moving around in his mommy…wonder if those were little feet kicking or little hands?

It’s really hard to say I like one type of photography more than another however, I definitely love photographing newborns.  New moms are often not sure if they should bring their new baby in at only a couple of weeks old and often wait till they’re older.  Well you don’t have to wait.  Newborns are great to photograph and they certainly don’t stay little for long.  In that first couple weeks of life they still like to scrunch up which is perfect for those towel poses or curled up in daddy’s hands like this one.
